The exploits of several guests and staff at a luxury resort during the course of a week. HBO renewed the series for a second season, despite the series being conceived as a one-season limited series. The series is said to be an anthology-style series, with new characters introduced in each season. HBO did this before (to great acclaim) with True Detective (2014). He appeared in Jeremy Vine: Episode #4175 (2021). Although part of the first season was regrettable. The second season is as masterful as one could hope for. It starts off a bit slowly, the first episode, but quickly finds its feet and impresses me time and again, captivating me as if I was not very experienced. It is like a review of all my thoughts about a resort vacation, many of which I have long since forgotten. That alone is a pleasure, but don’t worry, there is much more to the flirtation with operatic heights of drama and beauty, which is quite appropriate given the Sicilian setting. Given the excellence of the acting and the apparent naturalness of the story, I’d say that Mike White, the creator of this series, is something of an unsung genius. The guy seems unaware of limitations and has the sharpest eye for detail I’ve ever seen.
